From sitting pretty online, we tentatively made our way offline on the 21st of June to hold our first little event. We collaborated with the awesome Wool And The Gang (read more about them here) who sent us materials, supplies and patterns – everything we needed to make their fab Sansa Choker and Khaleesi Bracelet. Yup, that’s jewellery inspired by the badass female characters from Game Of Thrones (Do you watch it? Was that a finale or was that a finale?!?).
Andrea Guimet, our knitting expert and WATG rep (and lovely friend) led our workshop with ease which had 7 wonderful participants. Our venue was the project room at A4 Space, Alserkal Avenue in Al Quoz. Huge props to the A4 team who are champs at encouraging community, learning and DIY themed events.
The ideyna girls are thrilled to report that everybody survived our attempt at holding a real world workshop, and even came away with smiles (and the coolest knit bracelets and chokers). And many, a new skill to boot, including myself. We love that a sense of camaraderie developed among the girls, with everybody happy to lend a helping hand. Jane, one of our participants turned out to be a veteran at knitting and was glad to give us tips or help out if anybody asked.
Here’s a look at a few photographs and a little video we put together of ideyna’s first ever DIY workshop. Many thanks and hugs to everybody involved who made it a success. A special shout out to Nithya Raman from Retro Oven for her lip-smacking yummies. We couldn’t have done it without you all.
